Groundbreaking at Landmark
March 1st, 2024
On March 1, 2024 Landmark School held two groundbreaking ceremonies. One at our High School campus for a new student center and another at our Elementary•Middle School (EMS) campus for a new dining hall and classrooms. While we have been dreaming about these two projects since before COVID, this ceremonious day felt like the beginning of something exciting.
Students, teachers, and the board of trustees gathered on each campus to celebrate the occasion. On the High School Campus, Bill Barrett, head of the high school, stood in the very spot where there will be a new student lounge and helped envision what this new space will provide for students.
On the EMS campus, Claire Sullivan, head of EMS, spoke about work that three students submitted on "How the New Building Will Enhance Our School." See their contributions here. The new building will provide space so that more students can access a Landmark education, as well as explore more interests.
Thilo Henkes, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Landmark School, thanked all those involved in the project including: Windover Construction, Peterman Architects, Landmark's Building Committee and Board of Trustees, former Head of Landmark Bob Broudo and former Director of Facilities Dave Seiter, as well as all the donors who have helped make the projects a reality.
Josh Clark, Head of Landmark School, led students in a ceremonious groundbreaking and countdown for a confetti cannon.
At the High School, the ceremony finished with cookie treats from Henry's Market and measuring tapes from Windover Construction. The EMS students ate a delicious cake made by the SAGE Dining team.
