Outdoor Leadership
The Outdoor Leadership class addresses communication, judgment, and technical skills by practicing leadership techniques and team-building scenarios related to a wilderness environment. Students discuss what makes an effective leader and use those skills while successfully and safely performing activities such as hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and camping.
Yoga
Through a combination of movement-based classes and non-movement-based activities, students in Yoga will explore their version of overall wellness. Students will work to build both mental and physical strength and flexibility while also practicing grounding mindfulness activities such as breathwork, meditation, and self-observation. Students will be exposed to a variety of styles of yoga, ranging from vigorous vinyasa to gentle flow to restorative yin yoga. Off the mat, students will build awareness about their individual habits of mind, so that they can work to make intentional decisions, rather than impulsive reactions, while fostering a more positive sense of Self.
