Description

Job Summary:  We are looking for a third preschool teacher to complete our preschool team! The perfect candidate is enthusiastic about nurturing the wonder and curiosity that preschoolers have in abundance. This person is a professional educator who is energetic,
communicates well and understands the importance of experiential learning. A Tot Spot teacher is responsible for the supervision of children, creating and maintaining a happy and secure environment where the children may learn and grow. The teacher is also responsible for modeling supportive relationships with the children, the parents and each co-worker, including students and volunteers.

Specific Duties

  • Demonstrate professional behavior
  • Maintain welcoming, healthy and safe environment
  • Participate in general upkeep and cleaning
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and implementation with team of co-teachers
  • Attend staff meetings; demonstrate responsibility in articulating classroom concerns to staff members.  Cooperate in working towards conflict resolution
  • Report supply/equipment needs to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Participate actively with children during free play, snack/lunch, outdoor play and activity times
  • Demonstrate sensitivity and concern for the needs of parents.  Communicate regularly with each child’s family
  • Work cooperatively with co-workers.  Ask for and/or offer support and direction as needed
  • Establish rapport with Landmark staff and provide role model to Landmark students
  • Maintain records of children progress, participate in conferences
  • Have knowledge of forms that parents/teachers must fill out when necessary; release, medication, accident, etc.  Consistently have them filled out
  • Continue professional growth as dictated by the Department of EEC
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the staff manual and the Landmark Employees Handbook, the Tot Spot Parent Handbook and the Health Care Policy
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism inside and outside of Tot Spot
  • Take active role in center wide activities; fundraisers, graduations, meetings
  • Additional duties as assigned by the director

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to lift up to 40lbs
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds and sights in the classroom environment and on the play yards
  • The ability to to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to position self to play with children on the floor
  • The ability to be outdoors in all weather conditions

 

Requirements

  • Department of Early Education and Care - teacher certification
  • Employed 25–40 hours
