Position Overview

A Campus Maintenance Worker is responsible for all aspects of building maintenance. They
also assist with campus construction projects as well as snow removal and set ups for special
functions. 

Key Responsibilities

Expectations for a Maintenance Worker include but are not limited to the following duties:

  • Use hand and power tools including pneumatic and hydraulic equipment, hammer, sweep, sand, lift heavy materials such as sheet rock possibly overhead; hand drill and screw, paint, strip wall coverings, haul heavy materials up and down flights of stairs.
  • Raise and use an extension ladder, lift and feed sheets of wood into power equipment, move furniture, take measurements, work continuously from a stepladder, remove snow using a shovel, snow blower, or plow.
  • Occasionally order stock for projects, occasionally lift objects in excess of 100 pounds, report building repairs and safety issues to the maintenance supervisor; keep a daily log of performance, occasionally work overtime including late night emergency coverage
  • Independently evaluate building needs. Use a smartphone/computer to receive and send emails and be generally organized.
  • Be able to work as part of a team, as well as individually when needed. Flexibility is required to adapt during the work day if issues arise.
  • Have a professional attitude when in working school buildings and be sociable with school staff while keeping on task.

Requirements

  • 3 plus years of experience in maintenance
  • Demonstrate basic carpentry skills including framing, woodworking, plastering, sheetrock installation, insulating, roofing, flooring, trim finishing, painting and cabinet making; demonstrate a general understanding of plumbing, electrical work and HVAC.
  • Exhibit prior experience Plowing, Shoveling and Sanding.
  • Be physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and work on hands and knees, be exposed to dust and fumes, be able to work outdoors in hot and cold temperatures, be able to climb and work from ladders, be able to move heavy furniture and equipment.
  • To help assure that employees in continuing positions are able to perform the essential functions of the job, each person offered continuing employment must attain a post-offer, pre-employment physical at no expense to them. Acquire CPR and First Aid certification. Each person offered employment at the School must complete a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) check, a Massachusetts-mandated fingerprint-supported National Criminal History Record Information (CHRI) report, a SORI (Sexual Offender Record Information) check, and a background record check.
  • For employees who drive campus vehicles, a current driver’s license must be provided so Landmark may complete a Registry of Motor Vehicle (RMV) driving record request. An unsatisfactory record may result in withdrawal of the job offer if driving is an essential element of the position.
  • Be available to occasionally work beyond the typical workday and outside normal working hours (7-3).

Education Qualifications

  • High School / Vocational School diploma
  • Valid Hoisting engineer 2A/1C
  • Valid Driver's license
  • Valid pesticide license or Arborist Certification and training
  • OSHA 10
  • Pay will be based on Qualifications and Licences. (Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry skills.)
