CPR Training from the Pros

January 31st, 2024

On Wednesday, January 31, and thanks to a strong relationship between Landmark School and the Manchester, Mass. Fire Department (FD), eighth-grade students got to learn the latest CPR-AED protocols from the pros. Students were enthralled as they participated in a cardiac arrest scenario and observed paramedics perform life-saving resuscitation skills.

In this relevant and important demonstration, student volunteers acted as first on scene and initiated a rescue: calling 911, starting CPR, and using the AED until the professionals arrived on the scene. The Manchester FD demonstrated O2 administration, use of a LUCAS Device, providing mechanical chest compressions, and other life-saving procedures, before transporting the patient. Lt. Tim Crosbie, EMS Coordinator from the Manchester FD, answered a wide range of questions from careers in emergency medicine to life-saving practices. Thank you to the dedicated group of officers who joined us today. We are so grateful for your service!
Thank you Ms. Wilson for organizing and Mrs. Johnson for the write up and photos.
