Mario the Maker Magician at Landmark EMS

October 5th, 2023

Landmark's Elementary•Middle School campus boomed with cheers and excitement. Mario the Maker Magician was on site. In the gym, he wove in and around teachers and students, asking for their participation, and keeping everyone engaged during his performance. With sleight of hand, he amazed the EMS audience with tricks including a shoelace that suddenly appeared back on his shoe, a playing card written on a balled-up piece of paper from across the room, and a closed, watched box with a student's name imprinted on it. His magic show was accompanied by music and funny props. He had the audience howling with laughter and pure delight.

One elementary school girl, Joselyn, bravely volunteered to be his assistant. He made rubber clown noses appear and disappear from her hands. His show was not only funny but also heartfelt. He asked Jocelyn what she wanted to be when she grew up (a nurse, she replied) and her part in the show ended with Mario having a crow scream "Jocelyn, you're going to change the world".

The energy and excitement from both him and the audience was palpable! Equally impactful was Mario's message of, "Do what you love, use what you have, and have fun."

Mario the Maker Magician travels around the country, and at times the world, sharing his incredible talents at theaters and schools. He builds and creates a fair share of his robots and magic props from everyday items.

Mario will be hosting an off-Broadway show this November and December in New York City, and he will be back in this area to perform at Cabot Theater in Beverly next March 2024.
