2022-2023 High School Student Council
September 22nd, 2022
The results are in! Landmark High School students voted to elect Student Council officers on September 22. Rocco C. (President), Jack B. (Vice President), and Derek C. (Treasurer) were all elected into office.
Candidates bravely delivered campaign speeches in front of the entire study body in the Ansara gym on September 22. They outlined their platforms and highlighted why they are the strongest candidate for the job. Rocco (who was ushered in by four imposing student bodyguards) promised more community building through enhanced service projects with dedicated project managers and photographers as well as more dress-down days to help raise money for student activities. Jack reminded the audience that in his nine years at Landmark he knows the community well and is hoping to initiate a recycling program in the cafeteria and bring back cell phone access during lunch. Derek delivered an amusing address and shared that in his 1.1 year at Landmark has been very involved in student life activities and if elected Treasurer, could then be called "D-Money". Humor, sincerity, and community building were strong themes across all speeches.
In addition to organizing campus-wide events, the Student Council raises money for organizations near and far, including the Open Door Food Pantry in Gloucester, Beverly Bootstraps, nAGLY, Ddembe Home Uganda, Nuestros Pequenos Hermanos (NPH), and many more.
