Description

Landmark School is hiring an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the 2025-2026 academic year. The Athletic Trainer is an allied health professional recognized by the American Medical Association who is responsible for the execution of programs associated with the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the health and safety of Landmark School student athletes participating in the school’s athletic program at all levels.

Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To:

  • Assist Head Athletic Trainer in athletic injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation.

  • Provide coverage for athletic contests, practice sessions, and Athletic Training room as assigned.

  • Manage return to learn and return to play concussion program.

  • Provide athletic training services for the school’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home competitions as determined by the Head Athletic Trainer/Director of Athletics (including some nights/weekends).

  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the day-to-day operation of the sports medical/training program.

  • Liaise with the Health Center Nurses for both the High School and Elementary-Middle School campuses in the treatment of any athletic injury, or other injury to any student athlete.

  • Act under the direct supervision of the School Physician(s) as well as consulting physicians and other health care professionals as appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all athletic-related injuries, and subsequent treatments.

  • Communicate with parents of student athletes, House Parents, Health Center nurses, coaches, and other related staff in regard to a student athlete’s injury status, accommodations, treatment protocol, appointment schedule, and playing status when appropriate.

  • Assist members of the Athletic Department and Physical Education Department with management and supervision of the Alice Ansara Athletic Center.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in athletic training
  • National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Current or eligible state of MA License in Athletic Training
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification in accordance with NATA-BOC requirements
  • Proficient with computerized word processing and injury management software applications.
  • Experience in a high school setting is preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions.

  • Must be able to assist with or transfer athletes of various weights/heights.

  • Must be able to load and unload athletic equipment on and off of golf cart and bed of pickup truck.

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time, have good mobility skills, and be able to walk long distances.

  • Must be able to carry training kits and coolers for long distances.

  • Must demonstrate an ability to communicate, give adequate directions, and give clear instructions to students and parents.

  • Must be able to work with a dynamic and demanding schedule.

Exposure Category

Will have close contact with athletes and are likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids.
