Elementary Key Ceremony 2023
June 9th, 2023
On Friday, June 9, 2023 Landmark Elementary students received special recognition in their Key Ceremony. Students, teachers, and families gathered under the courtyard tent to celebrate this occasion.
Ms. Babcock spoke at the opening of the ceremony, "Something that makes Landmark special is our efforts to work on character development. Character education is the deliberate effort to develop traits that are not only good for the individual but are also good for the community. Landmark uses the twelve Keys to a Better Me program. We want studenst to care about what is right and help them to make the choice to do what is right. It has been amazing to see all the examples of these character traits throughout the year."
Fifth-grade students were given special recognition for their bittersweet transition out of the Elementary program. Each fifth grader had their name read and stood up at the front to be acknowledged for their hard work in completing the program.
Everyone then went to their individual Elementary classrooms where teachers presented students with their individual Key. Teachers shared heartwarming stories and accolades for each student and presented them with a plaque that included their write-up as well as photos from the year.
The Landmark Keys to a Better Me program include keys like:
- Kindness
- Persistence
- Feelings
- Responsibility
- Self-Advocacy
- Respect
- Patriotism (School/Community Pride)
- Honesty
- Flexibility
- Courage
- Initiative
- Citizenship
