International Day - May 4

Saturday, April 29, 2017

Landmark’s High School will celebrate International Day on Thursday, May 4th. The program will run all day and will include workshops and presentations by members of our International Group in collaboration with the Gay Straight Alliance. The purpose of the day and mission of the International Group is to foster a sense of identity, acceptance, and belonging for the international community, as well as to explore, raise awareness, and honor Landmark's rich cultural and ethnic diversity. The theme this year is The Wonderful Mosaic that is Landmark.

Landmark High School Teacher, Kanella Zaralides is spearheading the effort and remarks about this annual event, “I’m always amazed at the pride and creativity that our students bring to International Day. It’s a way for our community members, who come from outside of the United States, to share their culture. And students from the US reflect on where they come from and show pride in their ethnicity and heritage.” Other faculty members closely involved with the initiative include: Jennifer Day, Kylie Murphy, Eleni Nikitas, Carole Rein, and Victoria Tansey.

SAGE Dining Services will serve delicacies from around the globe starting on Monday, May 1st and will keep everyone’s taste buds dancing throughout the week. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate and wear ethnic attire or the color of the flag representing the country of their origin.
