Residential Orientation Information

Dear Parents and Caregivers:

As we approach the school year, we will once again be enjoying the company of your students(s) on Residential Orientation. All residential students are expected to participate in Residential Orientation as attendance is taken, and this counts towards days in school. Please refer to our attendance policy in the Student and Parent Handbook.

Students should arrive for registration on Monday, August 26, 2019, between 10 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Orientation begins after registration. Students will attend off-campus orientation at Camp Winaukee, in Moultonborough, New Hampshire, from Tuesday, August 27, 2109, through Thursday, August 29, 2019. There will be a half-day of classes (7:50 a.m.–12:00 p.m.) on Friday, August 30, 2019.

Please note that students will remain on campus on Monday until we leave for New Hampshire on Tuesday, and again after we return on Thursday through noon on Friday. We ask that no student plan to go away or go home before noon on Friday.  Please coordinate public transportation via Jean Crane.  Jean can be reached at (978) 236-3274 or at

Orientation is a wonderful opportunity for students to meet each other, learn about the community, and become familiar with staff who will be guiding them during their time at Landmark. It also gives us the opportunity to discuss with students the rules and policies of the system in a relaxed setting.

Students should come prepared to leave campus with their houseparents, coverage staff, and housemates. We will be staying at Camp Winaukee. This waterfront camp is one of the most beautiful areas of Lake Winnipesaukee.  We sleep in cabins with bathrooms so those not into “camping” can rest easy. Sleeping bags, pillows, flashlights, and camping-type clothing will be necessary.

Any student who is medically or physically unable to participate in anything from camping and hiking to swimming and canoeing needs to contact me as soon as possible so arrangements and modifications can be made.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. I look forward to seeing you on opening day. Please enjoy the remainder of the summer and stay safe.
