One of the best surprises of the Viking basketball season has been the emergence of junior Ryan Carruthers. In his first year here at Landmark, he has quickly established himself as one of the most talented varsity basketball players and someone the team looks to for leadership. Recently, Ryan helped to lead the Vikings to their most dramatic win of the season against Cambridge School of Weston by exploding for 22 points (many of which came in the final minutes) in a nail-biting 64-59 victory. His dominating presence stems from his versatility as a player. In some ways, he is a classic power forward, playing tenacious D and racking up points and rebounds on the post, but his soft touch also extends beyond the 3-point line, where he frequently glides shots effortlessly through the net as smooth as milk. In his short time here at Landmark, he has become an indispensable leader on a highly-talented team, and certainly has a bright basketball future ahead of him.
