Gaeta Goes to Hollywood

Monday, August 27, 2018

Last Fall, when Landmark's Bain House Residential Advisor, Michael Gaeta, or “Mikey MC” as he is known in the entertainment world, sent his video audition into the hit FOX game show Beat Shazam, he could not imagine the excitement he would feel when he was chosen from over 60,000 other contestants to appear on the special episode featuring some of the nation’s most experienced DJs.

The experience got real very quickly when he was notified on a Tuesday afternoon in December that he and his friend, Frank Prinzivalli “DJ Prince”, would be expected to be in Los Angeles to tape the show the next day. After a long night of traveling and only a few hours of sleep, the two arrived at the studio where they taped for 14 hours for the one-hour show. They took a red-eye home that night and were back at work by 7 a.m. the following morning. When asked what he remembers most about the experience Michael said, “I will always remember the opening sequence of the show when they introduced our team! Frank and I were the last twosome to the stage so we knew we had to electrify the crowd with our tandem dance moves! Hearing the roar of the crowd made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. It was surreal!”

Beat Shazam, in its 3rd season with host Jamie Foxx, pits three teams of two people against each other in naming the title of hit songs as quickly as possible. Contestants that succeed in the first two rounds compete against Shazam, the popular music identification app. The episode featuring Michael Gaeta and Frankie Prinzivalli will air on the FOX network on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 8 p.m. Tune in and enjoy!
