Tuition and Financial Aid Information

An investment in your child's future...

Sending your student to Landmark School is a big decision and one that offers a myriad of benefits. We realize that sending your child to Landmark is a significant investment.

Landmark's tuition covers all costs—tutorial, athletics, meals, and much more. There are no additional fees.

"You know the poem, The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost...I often think of Landmark when I hear it. Sending your child to Landmark is not an easy choice for any parent.  There are many factors to consider.  When we made this decision for our family, we focused on specifics that traditional schools could never give our son—small class sizes, one-to-one tutoring, and skilled & supportive teachers.  Once we realized these advantages, we took the 'road less traveled by' and indeed it did make all the difference."

Financial Aid

There are several resources listed below to help families navigate the very real issue of affording a Landmark education. Despite financial limitations, we encourage you to reach out to our Admission team to discuss your situation.

Financial Aid Program

Landmark School has a limited but growing financial aid program and is able to provide some assistance to those parents/guardians who demonstrate clear financial need.

To help evaluate demonstrated need, Landmark School employs the nationally standardized system for analysis offered by the School and Student Services (SSS) for financial aid, which is a service of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Landmark’s financial aid program is administered fairly and is consistently applied in accordance with the principles and practice of the NAIS and the mission of Landmark School.

For further questions regarding the financial aid process, please contact Jodi Bertolino, Landmark School Controller, by email or at 978-236-3206.

529 Plans can now be used for K-12 educational expenses. Read more to learn how you can apply these funds to a Landmark education.

Financial Aid Deadline and Policy

Financial Aid Deadline

Financial Aid funds are limited. To be eligible for full consideration in the first round of financial aid decisions, finaincial aid applications must be received by:

  • January 15 for new students
  • February 1 for returning students.

Any financial aid requests received after the deadlines listed above will be considered as funds are available.

Financial Aid Policy

Landmark will try to give priority to families who have previously received aid prior to making any new commitments.

  • Divorced or separated parents: Parents with legal parental rights must submit all of the required financial aid application documents in order for their child to be considered for aid.
  • Families can be assured that all documents concerning financial aid are held in the strictest of confidence by Landmark School. Only the Financial Aid Committee has access to the documents.
  • Landmark does not make financial aid awards to parents who receive any level of public funding, either total or partial.

Review Process

The Financial Aid Committee reviews all completed financial aid files for students in the admissions process. Decisions are made based upon each family’s demonstrated need and the Landmark resources available for financial aid. The committee may require additional documentation, such as bank statements, written explanation of any unusual circumstances, or a monthly expenses report in order to understand a family’s financial situation more fully.

For questions regarding the financial aid process, please contact Jodi Bertolino.

Tax Deductible Expenses

Landmark School provides special-education services and therefore, payments to Landmark may be considered deductible medical-care expenses under the Internal Revenue Code. The regulations under Section 213 of the Internal Revenue Code provide that:

"While ordinary education is not medical care, the cost of medical care includes the cost of attending a special school for a handicapped individual, if his or her condition is such that the resources of the institution for alleviating such handicap are a principal reason for his or her presence there."

Whether expenses of Landmark will be deductible in a particular case, however, will depend upon the facts and circumstances of each individual student’s situation. There are also percentage limitations applicable to otherwise deductible medical expenses, depending on the parents’ income. Before taking a tax deduction for expenses relating to the special education of a student, parents should confer with their tax lawyer or accountant about the rulings and regulations under Section 213 of the Internal Revenue Code and other applicable laws.
