Landmark students walked into the Ansara Athletic Center on Thursday expecting to hear nothing more than just another Chaplains’ Assembly. What they got however, was a series of moving speeches given by three different people representing homelessness.

On the dot, at 11:05 Mr. Ferguson started talking.

“Over the last 20 years landmark has been involved with homeless people,” Mr. Ferguson said of Landmark’s involvement with community service with homelessness. He then proceeded to introduce three speakers.

October 1, 2012 (Bozeman, Montana) - This summer Dylan R., a 12th grader at Landmark School, spent three weeks of his vacation on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in northwestern Montana with VISIONS Service Adventures, an international service learning summer program.

Campaign posters started going up a two weeks ago. By Thursday they were in every conceivable place around school.

Thursday was speech day. The day touted as a popularity contest by many, others actually took it the way it was meant to be taken.

“You ready for the big popularity contest?” said David S. a freshman, in regards to what went down this Thursday.

The students filed in and were quieted by Mr. Dudley. Adam B. stepped up to the Mic first.

Impressive speeches were given by all candidates today. Expect a tight race this year for every seat on Student Council!
