Athlete of the Week

Levi T has become an all-around threat for the Vikings in 2011-2012. Having already established himself as a low-post threat he has begun to use his height to lob 3 pointers over his opponents this year. Levi’s skill was most recently on display against Berwick when he managed to score 14 points in just the first half of play. His new offensive approach hasn’t affected his defense as he is among team leaders in both rebounds and blocked shots.

Athlete of the Week

This week we recognize Nolan Wilson for his athletic accomplishments outside of Landmark's program. Nolan, a 6'3”, 220lb Freshman will play in the Massachusetts Division 3A East High School Superbowl at the Manning Field in Lynn at noon on Saturday. A special teams player and Defensive End, Nolan has been a part of local history as a member of the Hamilton-Wenahm Generals football team, as they've gone undefeated all season. Their latest win was in the Division 3A semi final versus Newburyport which ended with a thrilling 7-0 victory.

Rachel S

Rachel is a force in the IGC.  She is one of the top players in the league, and with 10 goals on the season, she is our top scorer.  Not only does she score goals, but she has assists that match her goals.  Against Chapel Hill, Rachel had three assists and one goal, which helped Landmark beat Chapel Hill at home.  As our center midfielder she can switch the field, make defensive stops, and send through balls to the forwards.

Sean H

This week’s Viking is Sean H. Sean’s leadership and strong performances in both games and practice have elevated him to Captain. His ability to convert on direct kicks have led to several goals as the Vikings ride a two game win streak into Berwick.

Athlete of the Week

Our athlete this week is Elena B, captain of the volleyball team.  Elena is a great team member, leader, and volleyball player.

Elena B:
First year on team
13 aces last game--consistently serves, sets, and passes VERY well
Play of the game last Tuesday for retrieving a ball that had gone under the net and passing it in a way that sent it legally back over and scored us a point
Always willing to help her team on and off the court with volleyball skills

Athlete of the Week

This week’s athlete is David S.  As the varsity soccer keeper David constantly makes spectacular saves and keeps the Vikings in the game.  Some highlights of the early season stand out:

Athlete of the Week

Freshman, David G., has wrestled for Landmark for three years. As a seventh and eighth grader David made the trek over from EMS to the high school each winter day for practice in the “Old Wrestling Room”. As a middle school student he was always matched up against older more experienced wrestlers but still held his own, winning some of those matches outright. Those previous year's practice sessions are just beginning to pay real dividends for David and Landmark's wrestling team.

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Stephanie S.

Stephanie S. proved to be a terrific leader as co-captain of the girls JV soccer team. While she was committed to developing her skills as a forward, Steph was just as concerned with the team's growth. Stephanie had a great season scoring; thanks to her speed, ball control and intensity of play. Just as impressive was her enthusiasm for the game. She could often be found encouraging her teammates on the field or leading the team in halftime cheer. Steph also stepped up when asked asked to play for the varsity team this season. During the first first round of the IGC Tournament against Gann she lead the team by scoring two goals in the teams 3-1 victory.

David S.

A very deserving nod to David S. as this Week's honored athlete. The Mexico City native led the Boys Varsity Soccer team to back to back shut outs of the Waring School (0-0 tie) and Chapel Hill Chauncey Hall (2-0 victory). During the game against Chapel Hill, David kept last year's EIL MVP scoreless by making numerous saves against him, some of the extraordinary variety. The back to back shut outs is particularly noteworthy, as it marked an end to the team's lengthy struggles. David has played a major role in the team's improved play.
