In the Full-Day Combination Summer Program (grades 3 - 7) academic classes are complemented by fun and challenging afternoon activities. Teamwork and hands-on activities allow students to get outside and enjoy our beautiful coastal campus, develop leadership and verbal communication skills, make friends – and just enjoy the summer. Students choose from Explorations (Marine Science and Adventure Ropes) or Creations (Visual Arts and 3-D Building).
Marine Science and Adventure Ropes are offered in consecutive segments for small groups of students in grades 3 through 7. Students are divided into two groups based on their age and grade.
With the benefit of having the Atlantic Ocean at our doorstep, students enjoy field trips, lab activities, kayaking, an introduction to snorkeling, and exploration of our local coastal ecosystems.
Younger students use Landmark's climbing wall and low ropes elements to engage in fun, problem-solving group activities, as well as nature explorations and arts-oriented activities. Older students use the outdoor course, engaging in games and confidence-building on the climbing wall, low ropes, and high ropes elements.
For students who love to create, this program will hone their skills and stretch their imagination through drawing, painting, sculpting, mixed media, crafting, and various iPad apps. Students will create 2-D, 3-D, and digital art projects.
Students will be introduced to challenging woodworking projects and the science of powering small handmade vehicles on land and in water. Basic woodworking skills are presented and reinforced in supervised sessions that allow students to work at their own pace. Ultimately, they learn how to build a model boat and a CO2-powered dragster as a culminating class project.
