EMS Building Big

Sorry, flash is not available.

Middle school science classes have been exploring forces and structures. During an exploration activity, Tanner L. and Tanner P. were given a challenge to build a tower using recycled cardboard boxes and cardboard tubes. They had to balance the items, create the tallest tower and use all the materials. After the tower was completed, the boys wanted to see how the structure would respond to different forces. The first test they did was to see how the building would handle an earthquake. They stood around the structure and jumped up and down a few times. To their surprise, the structure did not tumble or shake thanks to a sturdy foundation. The second test they did was to see how the tower would withstand a hurricane or tornado. Tanner and Tanner huffed and puffed and blew their tower down.
