Middle school science classes have been exploring forces and structures. During an exploration activity, Tanner L. and Tanner P. were given a challenge to build a tower using recycled cardboard boxes and cardboard tubes. They had to balance the items, create the tallest tower and use all the materials. After the tower was completed, the boys wanted to see how the structure would respond to different forces. The first test they did was to see how the building would handle an earthquake. They stood around the structure and jumped up and down a few times.

On Friday, March 18 Mr. Keesler's 8th grade Oral Expression class fanned out across the second floor of the building and read stories to some of our elementary students. Titles ranged from The Story of Ferdinand by Munroe Leaf and Robert Lawson (1936) to Oh, the Places You'll Go! by Doctor Seuss (1990). It was a great way to wind down a busy week and transition into the weekend.

EMS Kids Around the Globe Visitor

On Friday, March 4, Evelyn Onari, native of Cameroon, Africa, and current graduate student at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, visited two "Kids Around the Globe" classes to share stories and experiences from her country. The students were able to get a first hand view of what life in a third world country is like and to learn how Ms. Onari intends to use her degree to improve community development and women's health in Cameroon in the future. We extend a special thank you to Landmark parent Debbie Gaw '12 for introducing us to Ms.
