There are essentially three purposes for the chaplaincy
at Landmark School. One is to support students in
the pursuit of their own religion by encouraging attendance
to worship services and retreats and to help them address
issues of faith as they come up. Another is to expose
students to the traditions and beliefs of other faiths.
As specific holidays arise, various religious traditions
are highlighted through informational displays.
Finally, the chaplain’s office coordinates most
of the community service opportunities for Landmark students.
The purpose is to encourage students to think in terms
of serving others and to provide experiences where they
can express their idealism and altruism.

Second Annual Trip to Jamaica
During the beginning of March break, the 7th - 13th, Landmark will be taking its second overseas community service trip to Jamaica. We have been given the opportunity by one of the premier travel organizations in Jamaica to come to the island for a time of service and sight seeing. The purpose of the trip is two-fold. One is perform community service in another country; in another culture. Students will be working with young children and their teachers at two schools in the Kingston area. They will be working at an elementary school, helping students with their lessons and playing with them at recess.
This trip is not designed to be all work and no play. We will also be given a personal tour of the island. We will visit its beaches, waterfalls and mountains. We will also enjoy some of its culture in the local towns like "Smokeyvale."
We fly to Ft. Lauderdale from Boston and from Ft. Lauderdale we fly to Kingston, Jamaica. We will be staying in a stately yet tropical villa owned by the family that will be hosting us. It overlooks Kingston in one direction and the mountains in the other.
Our hosts are very excited about having us come down to share their island with us. I do believe this is an opportunity of a life time for any student here at Landmark.
