Don't forget to RSVP Online!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Landmark High School’s Spring Parents’ Days will begin Wednesday evening, April 14 and continue through Friday, April 16, 2010. We hope that this will be a great opportunity for you to get an update on how your child is doing, to visit with other parents, to confer with Landmark staff, and to support our students in their many, varied curricular and extracurricular endeavors. We very much look forward to seeing you here in April!

The Development and Alumni Office are planning two evening events that will give parents an opportunity to socialize with each other and at the same time celebrate their children’s accomplishments. On Wednesday, April 14, there will be a gathering for all parents from 6:00-10:00 p.m. at the Elementary Middle School campus entitled “Taste of Landmark”. See Event Schedule for details. The Alumni Office will sponsor the annual “Senior/Parent Dinner” for our graduating seniors and their parents at the Danversport Yacht Club on Thursday evening, April 15, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. See Event Schedule for details.

During these days, the high school has organized a variety of community activities. Both Thursday and Friday morning, the Headmaster will address parents at 9:40 a.m. to offer a report on present and future events. Also, on both days, please support our students by attending the afternoon sporting events. Lastly, we encourage the viewing of students’ art and photography in the Art Center and schoolwork in the Gymnasium. Both buildings will be open all day Thursday and Friday.

Teacher conferences and appointments should be limited to your preference of Thursday or Friday, but preferably not both. Parents of juniors should plan to attend a workshop led by the Guidance Department (Thursday morning or Friday afternoon), designed especially to explain the college application process and post-graduation transitioning from Landmark. This program is geared directly towards junior parents and guardians. Parents of freshmen and sophomores should bring transition questions to your child’s academic case manager or to Suzanne Crossman or Colleen Kelleher if your child is in the Prep program.

This spring, we are most pleased to feature a presentation for all parents by Landmark’s own department heads for the Visual and Performing Arts, Elizabeth Jamieson and Richard Fish, respectively. Beth and Richard have countless examples of resounding success within their areas of expertise, and Landmark students unquestionably benefit greatly from this reputation for excellence in the arts.

As always, students are not permitted on campus without supervision. Since all faculty will be involved in these conferences, we request that all day students take Thursday and Friday as school holidays and not come to campus on those days. Resident students may leave campus after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday for a long weekend, as well. Senior and junior students are given the opportunity to attend conferences with their parents, but must sign up in advance with the Academic Dean. These students must accompany their parents throughout the day – during conferences and the lunch period. On both days, all students except those accompanying their parents will be taken to an off-campus recreational activity and will return to campus at 2:30 p.m. Please note that there is no school on Monday, April 19, to allow parents and students to enjoy a long weekend together.
