Math Day for Fall 2022
October 17th, 2022
The first Math Day of the year was a success!
Several times a year the Landmark Math Department hosts Math Day, when every math class comes together to explore thematic, hands-on, mathematical concepts—usually with some level of competition involved.
This year down at Governor's Landing, math students from all class periods were tasked with three challenging assignments. The team collaboration and class spirit were real.
1. The Boat Challenge- Using limited materials, students needed to work together to construct a floating device to hold as many pennies as possible.
2. Secret Path- One by one, students had to reveal the secret stepping pattern that only the teaching staff knew. The classes had to communicate successfully and move through the same 7-steps nine different times. *Mr. Walkowicz came out of retirement for this event!
3. Puzzles and Brainteasers- Mathematicians put the pencil to the paper to solve very tricky multi-step problems and riddles.

Plus, special thanks to Ms. Walkowicz and Ms. Muska for the write-up and for planning such a great campus event!
Check out some photos from the event.
