Charles Surney (1998)
2012 Hall of Fame Inductee

Charles Surney came to Landmark having never stepped foot on a wrestling mat. Under the tutelage of Hall of Fame coach Mike Reinacher, Charles first learned the sport when he arrived at Landmark during the winter of 1996–1997.  By the following season, Charles had become a force in the EIL. Charles won the EIL Championship in the 215 pound weight class in 1998 and went on to the New England Championships where he progressed to the championship round after tearing his ACL in his semi-final match. After the first period of the championship match, Charles could not continue. In addition to having the heart of a true champion, Charles continuously displayed unrivalled compassion and sportsmanship.  A true gentleman and consummate teammate Charles Surney left an indelible mark on Landmark athletics.
