Landmark's Music Program

Landmark Chorus

This is a premier performing ensemble of Landmark School, which is open to all Landmark High School students, performing a wide variety of selections. No other group at Landmark School is more visible to our community. This year should be a very strong year for the Landmark Chorus!

Landmark Chamber Choir

The Landmark Chamber Choir is a smaller, auditioned choir comprised of members of The Landmark Chorus. This ensemble strives to develop the vocal talents of our students more rigorously by featuring music such as madrigals and vocal jazz. The group performs at Landmark concerts and special events.

Solo Class

This class meets every Thursday afternoon from 3-4:30 pm, and is a wonderful opportunity for students to work together while preparing solos, even for the first time. Here, the varying levels of experience and supportive environment work together to help students grow as soloists. This class is also offered during the October Saturday School, and culminates with “Solo Night” in November, allowing students to perform for their peers and the larger Landmark community. Everyone is invited to participate!

Private Music Lessons

Instrumental (guitar and piano) and voice lessons are available after school one day per week on a first come, first served basis. Priority is given to students already involved in some other area of the Landmark Music Program. Guitar students need an instrument of their own, but keyboard instruments are available, for practice. Enrollment in this program is at the discretion of the Choral Director, Joe Stroup. Piano is offered free of charge. Separate fees will be charged for private guitar and voice lessons. In special cases, lessons can be provided on other instruments, if possible.

Performing Arts Mission

The Performing Arts Department at Landmark School strives to provide the highest quality instruction in the areas of drama, dance, music, costuming and technical theater to individuals with language-based learning disabilities. The fundamental goal of the department is the development of specific skills in these areas. The curriculum is enhanced by affording students the opportunity for performance creativity, which evolves from the skills that have been taught. Instruction in the performing arts areas instills ensemble technique and sensitivity, and offers the added benefit of developing authentic self-esteem that is based upon actual challenge and accomplishment.
