Drama, Technical Theater, and Costuming

The Performing Arts Department at Landmark offers Drama, Technical Theater, and Costuming as part of our comprehensive signature program. With nearly 100 students enrolling each year in the Performing Arts, we actively seek to develop students’ talents in the areas of Dance, Drama, Music, and Technical Theater. Many graduates go on to pursue the performing arts both educationally— in some of the top U.S. college programs — and vocationally.

The Landmark Stage Company

Every year since 1988, the Landmark Stage Company has presented two dramatic productions, in the fall and winter as well as the Spring Musical.

The Landmark Stage Company meets every day after school and is open to all Landmark High School Students. We look forward to presenting Our Town for the fall production, and will do a shorter play for the winter production in January. In the spring, the entire Performing Arts Department collaborates happily for our huge, and now famous, musical in May!

Technical Theater

Technical Theater at Landmark School encompasses all aspects of every production in the Performing Arts Department. In Landmark Tech, our students learn how to build sets using both wood and metal fabrication, run cutting-edge, computerized lights, and run the fundamentals of live audio production for shows and concerts alike. Tech Class is offered during the academic day, as well as every day after school as an activity

Costuming

Costume design and construction is a large part of every production in the Performing Arts Department. The program includes the design and construction of costumes for our two dramatic productions and the Spring Musical, as well as Chorus attire (dresses and tuxedos). Our well-equipped costume shop provides costuming resources to Landmark, other area schools, and a home to students with an interest in costuming and fashion design!

Performing Arts Mission

The Performing Arts Department at Landmark School strives to provide the highest quality instruction in the areas of drama, dance, music, costuming and technical theater to individuals with language-based learning disabilities. The fundamental goal of the department is the development of specific skills in these areas. The curriculum is enhanced by affording students the opportunity for performance creativity, which evolves from the skills that have been taught. Instruction in the performing arts areas instills ensemble technique and sensitivity, and offers the added benefit of developing authentic self-esteem that is based upon actual challenge and accomplishment.
