The Extra Curricular program at Landmark is not "extra" in the literal sense, it is an integral part of a student's development. Students with learning disabilities often do not have the opportunity to participate in programs or lack confidence in their abilities to perform. Others excell in non-academic activities and need opportunities to continue to develop.
Landmark has a comprehensive program of activities outside the classroom. Our students are encouraged to participate irregardless of their level of competence. If a youngster has always wanted to play soccer or participate in a play or join a club, but didn't for one reason or another, they have the opportunity to participate here. Students are not "cut" from teams, denied access to the stage, or discouraged from joining because of their level of skill. We celebrate all participants!
Boarding students at the High School must join an after-school activity of their choice. Our Elementary and Middle School students are encouraged to participate after school in the various activities. The purpose is to have students involved with their peers in accomplishing a goal and perhaps recognizing hidden talents. One of our graduates is in acting school now because a teacher encouraged him to participate in the play during his first year; something he never dreamed he could do.
